Building Project Update, September 2014

We are all very excited that the first and second year boys are now living on the first floor of the new dormitory!

First floor ready for students!

The second floor should be completed by about the beginning of November, as we are currently waiting on the tile.

Once the seniors have moved into the second floor of the new dormitory, the old senior dormitory will be turned into a game room. We have a pingpong table, and a supporter generously donated a pool table. We will also put tables and benches for the boys to play board games. This is really needed during the rainy season.

Thank you all again for your extremely generous support to complete this much needed project!

Building Project Update, March 2014

We are making great progress on the new dormitory. The structure is in place for the roof, while blockwork continues on the bottom floor walls.

Many people have pitched in to help the dormitory take shape. In the pictures below you will see 2013 graduate Khalille Kyle Ferrel, handyman Alberto Tek, and current student Ronnie Cassasola helping to set the concrete block walls.

Construction crew members poured concrete for a perimeter sidewalk. The steel structure for the roof is welded and bolted in place, awaiting the zinc sheets that will go up soon

The students and staff are excited to see everything coming together. Thanks so much for your generous support to make this much needed facility a reality.

Building Project Update, December 2013

Construction on the new student dormitory at Belize Vo-Tech began in late November, 2013, with the installation of a new septic system. Additionally, framing work has begun on the foundation of the new building.

The old basketball court has been dismantled to make way for the construction, and the remnants of the old court will be used to backfill the foundation, saving some money over having to bring in backfill material.

Weather continues to be a challenge to work around as the normal October rains were late in 2013, and we are still experiencing some cool, rainy days. But we believe as we press on with construction the typical drier weather of December and January will allow much progress to be made in the coming weeks.
